Some weeks ago on our way to Hamburg, we drove through the so-called Altes Land (Old Country). This is a very picturesque region mostly famous for its apples and cherries - a huge fruit-growing area near Hamburg. I really like the name Altes Land because it sounds like something far away from times long gone... we even drove through a village called Königreich (Kingdom)... It was impossible not to stop and to have a break in the warm midday sun under one of the thousands of apple trees. It was also one of the first really warm days of the year - with magnolias and fruit trees in flower. I hope you bear with me and the kitsch. I just couldn't resist. :)

Das muss traumhaft schön dort sein. Besonders im Frühling, wenn alles blüht. Muss ich dann doch mal in den Norden reisen. :)

Wow, it looks straight out of a fairy tale. And that last photo is just perfect -- I can almost feel the sun on my skin! Lovely.
ReplyDeleteEverything looks so quaint and beautiful! I love all the magnolia pictures. I wish I knew exactly what area of Germany my ancestors came from.
