desktop wallpaper // october

October 02, 2016

(1920 x 1280)

The wallpaper for October is one of my favourite places in Hamburg - the warehouse district, the Speicherstadt. I just read on Wikipedia that it is the world's largest warehouse district! I didn't know that, but it really is large... But most of all it is beautiful! Streets of endless brick buildings, glowing red in the sun and reflecting green in the canals. If you ever happen to be in Hamburg, take some time to get lost here.

I wish you all a golden October!

Hamburg and me

September 06, 2016

As some of you may have noticed I'm a wedding photographer. And for my job (and my own pleasure) I visited Hamburg last weekend to attend a workshop by Steffen Böttcher, also known as Stilpirat. Steffen is a photographer whose pictures are among my top-favourites. I love the unusual perspectives, the silent melancholy and the curiosity that shines through his pictures. If you want to have a look, I can only recommend to visit his blog and delve into his wonderful pictures: www.stilpirat.de

So I spent last weekend in Hamburg. I have to say, the relationship I have with this city was not always easy. Let's say we had a rough start. But last weekend it did its magic and I left in friendship... I now understand what people love about Hamburg. It's a baulky beast, but with a big heart. And I'm not yet done taking pictures of it! :)

A stopover in Hamburg

July 09, 2013

I could always sit at the harbour and watch its bustling activity, the little and the big ships passing, the people amidst.
This subliminal excitement of these places of arriving and goodbye.

A few hours are definitely too short for this wonderful city.

The Old Country

June 14, 2013

Some weeks ago on our way to Hamburg, we drove through the so-called Altes Land (Old Country). This is a very picturesque region mostly famous for its apples and cherries - a huge fruit-growing area near Hamburg. I really like the name Altes Land because it sounds like something far away from times long gone... we even drove through a village called Königreich (Kingdom)... It was impossible not to stop and to have a break in the warm midday sun under one of the thousands of apple trees. It was also one of the first really warm days of the year - with magnolias and fruit trees in flower. I hope you bear with me and the kitsch. I just couldn't resist. :)
