desktop wallpaper september

September 01, 2016

This month's wallpaper is for cat-lovers, like me! :) I met this cat in one of the famous "Traboules" of Lyon. Traboules are small passages between houses. Some of them are very dark and small, some are dirty, some are hidden, some are closed, some are secret, some are ostentatious. You can lose yourself for hours in them, a city within the city. If you ever happen to be in Lyon, I can only recommend to explore some of the 40 traboules, that are open for tourists. It's wonderful.

I wish you all a wonderful September, full of positive energy, adventures and explorations!
Stay curious!

August 03, 2016

(1920 x 1280)

My picture for August was taken in Lyon, France. I had the pleasure to work in this city for a few weeks some years ago. Since then I have constantly returned to Lyon, because I love this city and it's vibes so much. This picture, with the streets still in the dark while the roofs of the old french houses shining already golden in the morning sun perfectly sums up, what Lyon looked like on my way to work.

Have a warm, golden and happy August

analogue friday // throwback to France

April 01, 2016

Since I'm on holiday at the moment, and it is a bit more complicated here to develop a roll of film than it is in Berlin, this week I show you some analogue ones from a holiday in France some years ago. I think I already showed them to you, but I think it always is a good idea to dig up some gems hiding in the archives and I love these here especially.

I took them with a Revue Flex - a very reliable friend for analogue pictures.

So, come with me to the beautiful south of France, the Côte d'Azur and a bit of Lyon, too.

Greetings from Norderney

Lyon by Day [travelogue #9]

July 17, 2012

Lyon is one of the most beautiful cities we've been to so far. There are so many different faces to this city. For instance, there is the old part, Vieux Lyon, with its centuries old Traboules. Those Traboules were used to store the silk fabrics and grant safe passage from one street to the other when it rained. Today they make this part of town a playground for explorers, tourists and inhabitants alike. You can get lost for hours while exploring all those sometimes dark, hidden and labyrinthine alleys.

Such steep stairs you will also find everywhere there. Often they will reward the tired pedestrian with a wonderful view across the rooftops. But then every so often they just lead to more stairs... :)

While walking through the city, you can find a lot of evidence that the Lyonnaises seem to know how to savour the good things in life:
A comfy place in the shade when the sun is at its peak.

Boules. As most French do, of course.

Culture and contemplation.

The really  important things in life. And Backgammon.

Thank you, Lyon, for showing us your wonderful faces and facades.

We can't wait to be back.

Lyon by Night {travelogue #8}

July 14, 2012

The last 3 days of our holidays in France we stayed in Lyon. And fell totally in love with this city...

I think the pictures tell the story :)

Anticipation

May 24, 2012

After all the Hive-Hype (haha!) it's really difficult to concentrate on the things I had in mind about this blog before last weekend. But thanks to last weekend I can add the new input to the old projects!

This post has two reasons.

As I told you before I tried some analogue work - I don't know why but the laboratory does not come out with my results. So I am still waiting. At the same time I'm going through old analogue holiday pictures I took years ago when I didn't even think about digital cameras. I know that my family was sometimes a little bit - one can say - disappointed that my holiday pictures were seldom really about my holiday e.g. me, my friends or my accommodation. Instead there were numerous different pictures of landscapes, houses, different lights and moods, streets etc. :) I always loved to take pictures of such things. Somehow I thought with that I could take with me the whole location and the mood I was in, into my later photo box.

The second reason is that I am really, really excited because this year's holidays will take me back to a place where I lived a while some years ago and which I really loved: Lyon.

So I decided to fetch my old picture box and show you some of my analogue Lyon pictures.

Since I think it is a pity somehow that those old pictures are decaying in their boxes (when does one take them really out to look at them?), I will do this more often and show you old holiday pics.
Hope you don't mind :)

(PS: The pictures are a little bit spiced with Photoshop...)
